Itanagar, Jun 23: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik stressed the need for greater accountability, transparency and administrative efficiency during his meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Administrative Reforms Commission (APARC) Chairman Pramod Jain, who called on him at Lok Bhavan here on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the Governor highlighted the crucial role of the Administrative Reforms Commission in strengthening governance and improving public service delivery across the state. He said the Commission's recommendations should focus on enhancing accountability, ensuring transparency in government functioning and bringing meaningful reforms in the civil services.

Sharing his vision for a more responsive and citizen-centric administration, Parnaik stressed the need for reforms in personnel management, institutional functioning and capacity building. He underlined the importance of continuous training and skill enhancement of government officials to help them effectively address emerging governance challenges and rising public expectations.

The Governor also expressed concern over urban development and management, stating that proper planning, improved civic amenities and maintenance of infrastructure are essential to enhance the state's tourism potential and quality of life.

Advocating merit-based performance evaluation systems, he said such mechanisms would encourage professionalism, integrity and excellence in public service.

He further emphasized that modernization of the civil services through technology-driven governance, streamlined administrative processes, greater adoption of digital tools and improved financial planning would be key to delivering efficient and transparent services.

Reiterating his commitment to good governance, the Governor expressed confidence that the recommendations of the APARC would contribute significantly to building a more accountable, efficient and citizen-focused administrative framework in Arunachal Pradesh, in line with the aspirations of its people and the vision of a developed and self-reliant state.
