Itanagar, Jun 23: Three cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) have voluntarily returned to mainstream life in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, marking a positive development in ongoing efforts to promote peace and rehabilitation in the region.
According to Changlang District Police, two cadres belonging to NSCN-R and one cadre of NSCN-IM recently surrendered before the police and opted to renounce violence.
The police attributed the successful rehabilitation to sustained counselling efforts and the support extended by the cadres’ family members, which encouraged them to choose to return to the mainstream of society for a better future.
In a statement, Home Minister Mama Natung described the return of the three cadres to the mainstream as a significant step towards strengthening peace and stability in Arunachal Pradesh.
He commended the efforts of Changlang District Police for their dedicated counselling and rehabilitation initiatives and acknowledged the crucial role played by the families of the surrendered cadres which helped them choose the path of peace over violence.
“Our Government remains committed to creating opportunities for the peaceful reintegration of misguided youths into the mainstream. I encourage all those who have strayed onto the path of violence to embrace dialogue and reconciliation,” the Home Minister said.
He further urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure that peace, unity and development continue to shape the future of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Changlang District Police reiterated its commitment to facilitating the peaceful reintegration of former insurgents and appealed to other misguided youths to shun violence and embrace a peaceful family and social life.
