KHONSA, Jun 24: In a significant step towards strengthening physical fitness and promoting the well-being of police personnel, Environment & Forests Minister Wangki Lowang inaugurated “The Tirap Police Gym” here today.
The inaugural programme was attended by local MLA Wanglam Sawin, ADC Khonsa Namneet Singh, and Tirap SP Aditya, along with officers/ officials from the district administration and Police department.
Speaking on the occasion, Lowang stated that the establishment of the gym would help foster a culture of fitness, discipline, and operational preparedness among police personnel, thereby enhancing their efficiency and capacity to serve the public.
The Minister appreciated the initiative taken by SP Tirap in creating the facility for the welfare of the police force.
Following the inauguration, the Minister, accompanied by MLA Sawin and ADC Singh, visited the construction site of Nehru Stadium, Khonsa to review the progress of the ongoing project.
During the inspection, the Minister took stock of the ongoing works and directed the executing agency to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining the highest standards of quality in accordance with the DPR. He emphasized that the stadium, once completed, would serve as an important sports infrastructure for the youth and the people of the district.
The visit reflects the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening public infrastructure and promoting the welfare of both security personnel and the youth of the region. (DIPRO)
