ITANAGAR, Jun 27: In a major breakthrough against vehicle theft, Itanagar Police has recovered around 14 stolen two-wheelers from various locations across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Papum Pare district during a special drive conducted over the last 20 days.
The recovery followed the registration of Itanagar Police Station Case No. 171/2026 under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on June 25. Acting on the case, police apprehended four Children in Conflict with Law (CCLs), aged between 10 and 14 years, in accordance with legal procedures.
Based on disclosures made by the juveniles, police recovered the scooter involved in the case along with several other stolen two-wheelers from different locations. The operation was carried out under the supervision of the SDPO, Itanagar, and the Officer-in-Charge of Itanagar Police Station.
Police said verification of the recovered vehicles is underway, as registration, engine and chassis numbers of several vehicles appear to have been tampered with. The vehicles will be handed over to their rightful owners after completion of the necessary legal formalities.
The recovery drive involved sustained source engagement, field verification and continuous follow-up by personnel of Itanagar Police Station. Special appreciation was accorded to ASI M Kamgo for his crucial role in the operation through persistent intelligence gathering and field efforts.
Itanagar Police reiterated its commitment to preventing vehicle theft, identifying offenders and ensuring the return of stolen property to its rightful owners.
