ITANAGAR, Jun 28: On the concluding day of the five-day North East NSS Festival hosted by the Arunodaya University, Jollang here, Governor Jt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik today gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions.
In the Folk Group Dance Competition, Nagaland secured the first prize, followed by Assam in second place and Tripura in third spot.
In the Quiz Competition, the first prize was awarded to Vicky Puroik and Techi Monika of Team Arunachal, while Joseph Wangjen and Piyanshi Dutta of Team Assam secured the second prize. The third prize went to Jack Debbarma and Rupasree Sen of Tripur Team.
In the PPT Competition, Binu Chhetri of Sikkim won the first prize, Goto Chiram of Arunachal Pradesh secured the second prize, and Alesterhope of Meghalaya received the third prize.
In the Extempore Speech Competition, Binu Chhetri of Sikkim emerged as the winner, while Gulshan Tangsang of Meghalaya secured the second prize and Joseph Wangjen of Assam was awarded the third prize.
The competitions highlighted the knowledge, creativity, communication skills, and cultural richness of the participants from across the North Eastern region.
In his brief speech on the objective of the program, Dr A K Mishra, SLO (NSS), DHTE, Itanagar informed that 320 NSS volunteers and programme officers representing all eight NE states, participated in the five-day vibrant platform for youth interaction, cultural exchange, leadership development, and national integration.
He said that the North-East NSS Festival was designed to celebrate a vibrant culture, history, tradition, flora & fauna woven under the common spirit of ‘Not Me, But You’. The festival consisted of various programmes, including literary activities, cultural performance, Yuva Samvad, site seeing and understanding of the rich cultural tradition of North-East India, he said.
