DIRANG, Jun 28: In a major success under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under Sector Headquarters, Mangaldoi, seized 932.05 kilograms of ganja and arrested two suspected drug traffickers during a special operation in the Balemu area.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, SSB personnel intercepted two suspicious trucks at 1700 Chain in the Balemu area on Sunday. During a thorough search, approximately 932.05 kg of ganja concealed inside the vehicles for illegal transportation was recovered.
Both trucks were seized and two persons were taken into custody in connection with the case.
Preliminary investigations indicate possible links to an organised interstate narcotics trafficking network. Officials said further investigation is underway to trace the source, destination and other links associated with the smuggling operation.
SSB officials reiterated their commitment to the Government's zero-tolerance policy against drugs and said coordinated operations against narcotics trafficking will continue to protect society, particularly the youth, from the menace of drugs.
