CM Khandu briefs Guv on flood situation, development initiatives

Itanagar, Jun 30: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu called on Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan here on Tuesday and briefed him on the prevailing flood situation in different parts of the state, as well as the measures being undertaken to provide relief and ensure the safety of affected communities.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the Governor of the government's ongoing efforts to address the challenges arising from recent floods and discussed various developmental programmes and key initiatives aimed at accelerating the state’s socio-economic progress.

Expressing concern over the impact of floods on lives, livelihoods and infrastructure, the Governor stressed the need for a "Whole of the State" approach to effectively tackle the challenges posed by the natural calamity. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among government departments, district administrations, community organisations and citizens to strengthen disaster response and resilience.

The Governor commended the dedicated services of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), district administrations, the Public Works Department, Civil Aviation and Disaster Management departments, the Indian Red Cross Society, volunteers and local residents for their contributions to ongoing relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations.

The Governor also shared his observations from recent review meetings held at Lok Bhavan on several important issues concerning the state. These included the State Finances Audit Report, measures for ensuring the safety and protection of women and children, and cleanliness and sanitation initiatives being undertaken by the Itanagar Municipal Corporation. He also expressed concern over the recent unruly incident at NERIST.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister apprised the Governor of the activities being undertaken by various departments, highlighting efforts aimed at improving governance, accelerating development and enhancing public welfare across Arunachal Pradesh.
