MAGO, Jun 30: The Tawang district administration on Tuesday organised a Seva Aapke Dwar (SAD) 2.0 camp at Mago village, providing a wide range of government services and awareness programmes to residents of the remote border settlement.
The camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, along with Zilla Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu. A total of 19 Govt departments participated in the outreach programme, delivering services ranging from Aadhaar registration and free health check-ups to the distribution of vegetable seeds, animal feed, vitamins and veterinary medicines.
Altogether, 543 people benefited from the camp. The programme also focused on creating awareness about key public initiatives, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Khet Bachao Abhiyaan, Census operations, waste management, plastic pollution and various welfare schemes.
Addressing the gathering, ZPC Leki Gombu encouraged villagers to take full advantage of the services being offered and to raise local issues requiring intervention for timely resolution.
DC Angmo highlighted the significant developmental progress witnessed in Mago in recent years and noted the growing influx of tourists to the border village, even during the lean tourism season. She described the trend as a positive sign for the local economy and encouraged residents to establish more homestays and tourism-related facilities.
Referring to the district administration's earlier hospitality and tourism training initiative, she said similar capacity-building programmes could be organised again to strengthen local participation in the tourism sector.
The programme was attended by ADC Rinchin Leta, Jang ADC (In-charge) Dr Honjon Perme, Assistant Commissioner Thutan Wangchu, District Planning Officer Nawang Thutan, Deputy Director (Rural Development) Tenzin Jambey, representatives of the Indian Army and local residents.
Following the camp, the DC, ZPC and officials visited Gongkar Lake, located at an altitude of about 15,650 feet, where they participated in a cleanliness drive. Army officials briefed the delegation on initiatives aimed at facilitating tourism while promoting environmental conservation in the area.
