PASIGHAT, Jul 1: Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), the lone state university of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated its 4th Foundation Day here today in an impressive manner.
Themed ‘Celebrating Togetherness Through Sports and Culture’, the event brought together faculty, staff, and students to reflect on the university’s journey so far and the path ahead for the APU.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Dr Milorai Modi commended the faculty and staff for their dedication and acknowledged the role they have played in the university’s growth over the past four years.
He noted that APU, though young, has demonstrated that a university can grow with purpose when its people work with sincerity and shared intent.
He called upon every member of the university — faculty, staff, and students alike — to see themselves as stakeholders in a long-term project, one whose benefits will be felt not just by the present generation but by the students who will walk through APU gates for decades to come. He emphasized that no institution is built by administration alone, and that the sustained commitment of teachers who teach well, staff who work diligently, and students who take their education seriously is what will define what APU becomes.
In his capacity as Director Technical and Higher Education, Dr Modi also expressed the government’s readiness to extend support to the university in its continued development.
Asstt Registrar (Establishment), Anil Nangkar presented the annual report of the university.
In keeping with the day’s theme, results of various sports and singing competitions held in the lead-up to the event were declared during the ceremony. The overall championship title was awarded to Team Registrar. Among the individual competitions held on the day, the World Cup Quiz Competition was won by Otik Borang, a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, and the Singing Competition was won by Tungam Riba of the admin staff.
Earlier, Dr Prem Taba, HoD Mass Communication, reflected on the significance of the Foundation Day — terming it not merely as an annual observance, but as a moment for the university community to pause, take stock of its responsibilities, and recommit to the work of building an institution that genuinely serves the people and the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The program was attended by Registrar Narmi Darang, Controller of Examinations Dr Monshi Tayeng, Dean Prof P C Jena, heads of various departments, faculty members, administrative officers, staff, and students, besides Dr Enuk Libang, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, JNC Pasighat.
