KVK East Kameng conducts natural farming awareness programme in Pakke Kessang

GUMTUNG, Jul 1: As part of the month-long Khet Bachao Abhiyan, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) East Kameng has extended its outreach activities to Pakke Kessang district by organising an awareness-cum-training programme on natural farming at Gumtung village on Tuesday.

The programme, conducted in collaboration with the District Agriculture Officer and his team, witnessed the participation of 22 farmers from the area.

Specialists from KVK East Kameng conducted technical sessions on soil health management, land conservation, climate-resilient agriculture and natural farming practices, highlighting the importance of sustainable agricultural methods in improving productivity while conserving natural resources.

The KVK and DAO team also created awareness about various government schemes aimed at supporting farmers, including PM-KISAN, Kisan Credit Card, Soil Health Card and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Farmers were informed about the benefits of these initiatives and the procedures for availing the services.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which farmers from Gumtung and neighbouring villages shared their agricultural concerns and challenges. The experts provided technical guidance and suggestions to address local farming issues and improve agricultural practices in the region.
