TPA Reviews Draft Tezu Master Plan-2051

TEZU, Jul 1: A meeting of the Tezu Planning Authority was held last week at the conference hall of the District Secretariat, Lohit under the chairmanship of Kesang Ngurup Damo, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Tezu Planning Authority, to review matters relating to the Local Planning Authority boundaries of Tezu township, the Draft Tezu Master Plan-2051, implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye-Laws, 2019, and urban reform measures.

The meeting was attended by members of the constituted Tezu Planning Authority, including ZPC Lohit Basanlu Dellang, ADC-cum-DPDO Sotailum Bellai, ZPM Tezu Baplalum Chiba, ZPM Sunpura Gulabso Bellai, DMO Dr C L Manchey, heads of line departments, representatives of Tezu Market Welfare Association, and Town Planner-cum-Member Secretary TPA, Dacha Bagang.

In his introductory address, Bagang briefed the members on the importance of a GIS-based Master Plan aligned with the guidelines of AMRUT 2.0 and the reform agenda of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. He stated that the implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Building Bye-Laws, 2019 after notification of the Tezu Master Plan-2051 would be crucial for planned and regulated growth of Tezu town and Lohit district as a whole.

He appealed to all departments to actively participate in preparing a long-term vision for Tezu and to submit short-term, medium-term and long-term project proposals for incorporation in the draft master plan. He also advised departments to ensure that future project proposals are prepared in conformity with the proposed land use under the Tezu Master Plan.

During the meeting, hard and soft copies of the Draft Tezu Master Plan-2051 were distributed to stakeholders for inspection, public comments and suggestions. A detailed PowerPoint presentation was also made by the consultant, M/s Remote Sensing Instruments, Hyderabad.

Addressing the meeting, the DC emphasized that a master plan is a long-term and comprehensive vision document for the systematic growth of towns and cities. He stressed the need for active participation of all stakeholders, including elected representatives and line departments, in the planning process.

After detailed deliberation, the house unanimously decided to defer approval of the Draft Tezu Master Plan-2051 for further review and wider departmental consultation.

The Town Planner-cum-Member Secretary, TPA, has been directed to convene the next Local Planning Authority meeting within two months for further review and approval. (DIPRO)
