ITANAGAR, Jul 2: The Deomali administration has temporarily closed the stretch of NH-315A from the Assam Police BOP Check-post Tri-junction to Joypur in Assam for all types of vehicles following recent landslides near Kothalguri on the Joypur-Hukanjuri Road.
According to a public advisory issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Deomali, Badonlum Tawsik, a joint inspection by the Naharkatia and Deomali sub-divisions found that the landslide damage at Km 56 of NH-315A had extended up to the centreline of the highway, making the road unsafe for vehicular movement.
The administration stated that restoration work is underway but is expected to take time due to the extent of the damage.
The advisory said that the road closure will remain in force until further orders. However, in cases of medical emergencies, affected persons may contact the Officer-in-Charge of Deomali Police Station, who will coordinate with the counterpart authorities at Joypur to facilitate movement.
The public has been urged to avoid travelling on the affected stretch and instead use the Deomali-Margherita Road as an alternative route until restoration work is completed.
The administration also cautioned that any act or omission likely to endanger public safety or disturb public order may attract action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
