Itanagar, Jul 3: Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Gabriel D Wangsu, who also chairs the High-Powered Committee constituted to review and strengthen the state's Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, visited the Banderdewa Check Gate and Banderdewa Police Station to assess the implementation of the permit mechanism.
The visit was undertaken while the minister was travelling to Kanubari.
During the inspection, Wangsu interacted with police personnel and officials of the ILP issuing authority to understand the practical challenges faced in verifying Inner Line Permits and enforcing the system at one of the state's key entry points.
He held detailed discussions with officials on the existing gaps in implementation and explored possible measures to further strengthen the ILP verification process and overall enforcement mechanism.
The minister said that feedback from personnel working on the ground is crucial for identifying operational challenges and formulating effective policy interventions.
Emphasising the importance of a robust ILP regime in the frontier state, Wangsu said valuable inputs from field-level officials would help the High-Powered Committee recommend measures to establish a more efficient and foolproof system for regulating entry into Arunachal Pradesh.
