ITANAGAR, Jul 3: The Human Rights of Arunachal (HRA) has expressed concern over the alleged intrusion by Chinese forces in the Taksing area of Upper Subansiri district.
The concern follows claims by the Nah Welfare Society (NWS) that China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has encroached upon the community's ancestral land in Taksing. However, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has stated that there has been no intrusion into Indian territory.
In a statement, HRA said the contradictory public statements have created confusion among the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the country. It said that, as a Union Minister, Rijiju has a constitutional and moral responsibility to provide accurate information and safeguard the nation's interests.
The organisation appealed to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to constitute a team to conduct physical and aerial surveys to assess the ground situation in the Taksing area. According to the HRA, an independent survey would help establish the facts and address public concerns.
The HRA also expressed confidence in the Indian Armed Forces to safeguard the state's border areas and urged all political parties, particularly the Indian National Congress, to raise the issue of Arunachal Pradesh's border security during the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament.
