Guv extends Dree Festival greetings

Itanagar, Jul 4: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has extended his warm greetings to the people of the State, especially the Apatani community, on the eve of the latter's annual agriculture-based festival, Dree.

In his message, the Governor expressed hope that the sacred festival would usher in abundant harvests, peace, prosperity, good health, and happiness for every home and community.

Describing Dree as a celebration of the rich cultural heritage, indigenous knowledge, and vibrant traditions of the Apatani people, the Governor said it is one of the community's most significant agricultural festivals, observed with devotion, cultural pride, and a strong sense of togetherness.

He noted that the festival reflects the deep bond between the people, nature, and traditional agricultural practices. Through rituals and prayers, the community seeks divine blessings for timely rainfall, protection of crops from pests and diseases, improved soil fertility, and a bountiful harvest.

The Governor also expressed happiness that the younger generation is embracing and preserving these traditions, ensuring that the legacy of their ancestors is passed on to future generations.

Conveying his best wishes, the Governor prayed that Almighty Danyi-Piilo bless everyone with wisdom, harmony, and prosperity, and that the spirit of Dree further strengthen the bonds of unity, compassion, and well-being among all.
