KHONSA, Jul 4: In a key digital dash, Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles in collaboration with Team Desh opened a Computer Learning Centre at Wakka in Longding district today, with Colonel Ankit Harjai, Commandant Khonsa Battalion (Assam Rifles), inaugurating the centre.
The initiative aims to promote digital literacy through computer education among students and youth in the region by providing access to basic digital infrastructure and learning opportunities. As part of the project, the centre has been equipped with two computers and one printer to facilitate computer-based education, skill development and digital learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Colonel Harjai highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s world, and encouraged students to make the best use of the facility to enhance their knowledge and prepare themselves for future educational and employment opportunities.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Assam Rifles towards supporting educational initiatives and contributing to the socio-economic development of remote areas.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of Khonsa Battalion, representatives of Team Desh, members of the local civil administration, village elders, teachers, students and residents of the area.
The speakers underscored the transformative role of technology in education and emphasized the need to bridge the digital divide in rural and remote regions.
Members of the local community expressed their appreciation to Khonsa Battalion and Team Desh for establishing the CLC and acknowledged the initiative as a significant step towards empowering the youth through education and digital skills.
The newly established centre is expected to benefit students and young learners from Wakka and neighbouring villages by providing them with improved access to computer education and essential digital skills, thereby contributing to inclusive growth and nation-building. (DIPRO)
