Aalo, Jul 4: The Spearhead Division under the aegis of Spear Corps on Saturday launched an introductory tennis orientation programme for students at Aalo Military Station to promote sports and nurture young talent.
The programme saw the participation of 50 students and two teachers from Aalo town. It aimed to introduce the participants to the basics of tennis while encouraging healthy lifestyles and fostering discipline and sportsmanship.
During the orientation, students learned about the history, rules, scoring system, court etiquette, and fundamental techniques of the game through interactive demonstrations, motivational videos, and practical on-court sessions.
The initiative seeks to expand sporting opportunities for youth in the frontier district, where access to specialised sports such as tennis has remained limited.
By opening the tennis facilities at Aalo Military Station to local students, the Indian Army has created a platform for aspiring players to learn and develop their skills under guided supervision.
As part of the programme, the students will be provided a dedicated daily time slot to use the tennis court, along with the necessary equipment and sporting accessories to support regular practice.
Defence sources said the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, sports development, and strengthening military-civil cooperation in Arunachal Pradesh while inspiring young people to pursue excellence through discipline, fitness, and determination.
