Itanagar, Jul 5: The Tawang Police, with assistance from Assam Police, arrested two accused persons in separate cases involving alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating, marking significant progress in the investigations.
In the first case, Tawang Police registered a case on May 25 based on an FIR lodged by Garib Nath Raut, manager of Sela Distributors, an IMFL and beer wholesale distributor in Old Market, Tawang, against Lakhya Jyoti Boruah of Nowboicha area in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
According to the complaint, Boruah, who was employed as the firm's manager and entrusted with sales, procurement, stock management, accounts and overall business operations, allegedly misappropriated around Rs 90 lakh. The discrepancies were reportedly detected during an audit conducted on May 1. The accused had allegedly been absconding since March 25.
A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation was taken up by Officer-in-Charge of Tawang Police Station, Inspector Niyi Angu.
Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang, a police team, with assistance from Lakhimpur Police, apprehended the accused in Assam on Saturday.
In another case, Tawang Police arrested Madhab Das (31) of Monujuli Gaon in Sonitpur district, Assam, in connection with an alleged cheating case.
The FIR, lodged on May 12 by Sonam Tsering of Kharteng village, alleged that the accused had accepted an advance payment of Rs 2.20 lakh for supplying furniture but failed to deliver the goods and allegedly did not honour the agreement.
Following registration of the case under relevant sections of the BNS, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tawang, issued a bailable warrant against the accused.
Acting on the warrant, a Tawang Police team, with assistance from Sonitpur Police, executed the arrest warrant in Assam on Friday last and completed the required legal formalities.
SP Darang appreciated the cooperation extended by the Assam Police, particularly the police teams of Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts, stating that such coordinated operations strengthen inter-state policing and enhance cooperation between the Arunachal Pradesh Police and Assam Police in effective law enforcement.
