PANGIN, Jul 9: A short-term course on ‘basic hospitality & homestay management’ under the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, GoAP, is underway at Govt ITI Pangin.
The course is being conducted as part of the Institute’s outreach programme with the objective of providing practical, industry-relevant skills to homestay owners, SHG members, tourism entrepreneurs, students, local youth and others interested in the hospitality and tourism sector.
The programme has received an encouraging response, with participants joining not only from Siang district but also from the neighbouring West Siang and East Siang districts.
During the course of the ongoing training, participants have undergone training in key areas such as homestay operations, housekeeping, menu planning and pricing. In addition to classroom-based sessions, the programme has placed strong emphasis on hands-on learning through practical activities such as professional bed-making, hospitality role-playing and guest interaction exercises, menu planning and other service-related demonstrations.
The remaining sessions of the course will cover important areas including online marketing, community-based tourism, safety, first aid and sustainability, providing participants with a broader understanding of the operational and entrepreneurial aspects of running a homestay or hospitality establishment.
Through such outreach initiatives, the department of skill development & entrepreneurship, GoAP, through Govt ITI Pangin, aims to extend skill development opportunities beyond conventional institutional training and support local communities in improving service standards, enhancing livelihood opportunities and strengthening the tourism and hospitality ecosystem of the region.
The course will continue till July 11 next. (DIPRO)
