APSLSA conducts legal awareness program for students

ITANAGAR, Jul 10: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), organised a legal awareness programme at Govt Secondary School, Police Colony, Itanagar, to educate students about their legal rights and welfare schemes.

More than 150 participants, including APSLSA Member Secretary Tadu Tamang, Ward No. 2 Corporator Tai Taksing, teachers, students and APSLSA officials attended the programme.

Technical sessions were conducted by advocates Iken Ado and Terji Gamlin, who delivered presentations on the Protection of Women from Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, Right to Education Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, prevention of child marriage, anti-human trafficking laws and drug abuse prevention.

Participants were also sensitised about various NALSA welfare initiatives, including ASHA, SAATHI, DAWN and the Legal Service Management System (LSMS). Information on the NALSA toll-free helpline (15100) and the availability of free legal aid services was also shared.

The programme concluded with an interactive session followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Adv Inao Janan Singpho, Counsellor, APSLSA. The APSLSA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting legal awareness and ensuring that citizens, particularly students, are informed of their legal rights and the services available under NALSA.
