APLS holds 153rd monthly sitting

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) held its 153rd monthly sitting at the society's office premises here under the chairmanship of Dr Doyir Ete Taipodia, Assistant Professor of English at Rajiv Gandhi University.

The session featured recitations of self-composed poems, short stories, articles and translated literary works, followed by lively discussions on the presentations.

Dr Bompi Riba, Dr Moge Basar, Takhe Yasa, Takhe Yebyang, Yagyaj and Tarh Susana presented their original poems in English and Hindi, while Inumoni Das Thongchi recited the Assamese translation of Dr Doyir Ete Taipodia's well-known poem Lost Word, which she translated herself.

Yagyaj also presented a short story titled The Prize of the Faith, highlighting issues arising from religious conversion. Wango Socia presented an article titled The Preservation of Literature through the Prism of the Poetry Book of Dr Tunung Tabing, stressing the importance of preserving indigenous languages, literature and cultural heritage.

The monthly literary sitting concluded with an interactive discussion, with members reaffirming their commitment to promoting creative writing and preserving the rich literary traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.
