Tawang, Jul 12: Continuous heavy rainfall has severely damaged the road connecting the Sela Tunnel in Tawang district, with nearly half of the roadway being washed away, disrupting traffic and posing a serious safety risk to commuters.

The affected stretch has become unsafe for vehicular movement after incessant rain triggered extensive erosion, washing away a significant portion of the road. Ongoing rainfall and unstable terrain have also hampered restoration work, preventing immediate repairs.

Authorities have advised all commuters to use the Old Sela Road as an alternative route until the damaged section is repaired and declared safe for traffic.

Motorists have been urged to exercise extreme caution while travelling, as persistent rainfall may trigger fresh landslides, falling rocks, and further damage to roads in the region.

Travellers have also been advised to plan their journeys carefully, avoid unnecessary travel through vulnerable stretches during adverse weather conditions, and strictly follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities until normal connectivity is restored.
