Dirang, Jul 14: In a significant initiative to promote quality education and empower youth from border areas, the Indian Army, under the aegis of the Sela Brigade, organised a flag-off ceremony at Sapper, Dirang, on Monday for 25 students selected for admission to Woods Park Sainik School, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
The ceremony was attended by West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar, Commander of 46 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Rahul Mishra, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dirang, Choiki Dondup, Panchayat leaders, Gaon Burahs, and parents of the selected students.
The 25 students, hailing from the border villages of Jung and Dirang, secured admission after successfully clearing the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE)-2026. Their success came after receiving sustained coaching, mentoring, and guidance from the Indian Army under its educational outreach programme.
Congratulating the students and their parents, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the efforts of the 46 Infantry Brigade in identifying, mentoring, and preparing the students for the national-level entrance examination. He also appreciated the Army for making comprehensive arrangements to facilitate their admission to the Sainik School.
He observed that such initiatives provide meaningful educational opportunities to children from remote border regions while contributing significantly to their overall development and future career prospects.
The achievement of the students has brought pride to their families and communities and is expected to inspire many more young aspirants across the region.
The Indian Army said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to nurturing talent, expanding educational opportunities, and promoting holistic development in the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Besides strengthening civil-military relations, such programmes also contribute meaningfully to nation-building through investment in the region's youth.
