ITANAGAR, Jul 14: Pipsorang Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Yumlam Pulu, along with Tali East ZPM Rughu Tama, on Tuesday visited the site of the flash flood that washed away the 84-metre steel truss bridge over river Kumey between Jha and Ruhi villages.
The bridge, which served as a vital link connecting eight villages, was swept away in Sunday's flash flood, severely disrupting transportation and communication in the area.
During the inspection, SDO Pulu said more than 20 houses located near the bridge were also damaged in the flash flood.
He urged residents to strictly adhere to the district administration's advisory, which directs people to avoid staying along riverbanks during periods of heavy rainfall as a precautionary safety measure.
ZPM Rughu Tama appealed to the state government to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation assistance to the affected families. He also called for the early reconstruction of the washed-away bridge, stating that restoring the crucial connectivity would greatly benefit the residents of the eight affected villages.
