ITANAGAR, Jul 26: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Sunday urged the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and discipline while discharging their duties, saying sincerity, discipline and dedication are the hallmarks of a successful uniformed force.
Interacting with officers and personnel of the 73rd Battalion of the SSB at Shergaon in West Kameng district, the Governor lauded their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation's borders and maintaining peace and security in remote areas.
Drawing upon his experience in the Armed Forces, Parnaik encouraged the personnel to continue serving the nation with dedication and professionalism, noting that every action of a security force member strengthens public trust and national security.
Greeting the personnel on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, he stressed the need to mentor and strengthen junior officers, saying well-trained, motivated and professionally competent young leaders form the backbone of an effective force and are essential for maintaining operational excellence, discipline and high morale.
He urged senior officers to nurture leadership qualities among younger personnel so that they are prepared to shoulder greater responsibilities while upholding the finest traditions of service to the nation.
The Governor also appreciated the battalion for maintaining cordial relations with local communities, observing that people-centric engagement fosters mutual confidence and strengthens the bond between security forces and citizens.
Encouraging the personnel to extend their role beyond operational responsibilities, he called upon them to actively promote sports and physical fitness among local youth, inspire young people to join the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces, and continue community outreach initiatives.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector General of SSB Sector Headquarters, Bomdila, Kamal Kant, briefed the Governor on the role, responsibilities and achievements of the force along the Indo-Bhutan border. Commandant of the 73rd Battalion, SSB, Shergaon, Chaoba Angomcha, was also present.
The Governor also participated in a plantation drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and collective responsibility in creating a greener and healthier future for coming generations.
