ITANAGAR, Jul 27: The BJP Minority Morcha, Arunachal Pradesh, on Monday observed the 11th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, fondly remembered as the "Missile Man of India" and the "People's President," at the BJP State Office in Itanagar.
Leaders and members of the BJP Minority Morcha, along with representatives of various BJP frontal organisations, paid floral tributes to Dr Kalam's portrait and observed a two-minute silence in his memory.
Recalling his immense contributions to India's defence and space programmes, the speakers highlighted Dr Kalam's distinguished tenure as the President of India, his pioneering work with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and his lifelong dedication to education, science, innovation and nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, BJP State senior vice president Dongoli Libang, BJMM State president Taring Rai, BJMM secretary Dana Yama, BJMM State executive member Yumdak Kena, general secretary-cum-convener Nabam Joshi and other leaders said Dr Kalam's life continues to inspire millions of Indians, particularly the youth, to dream big, work hard and serve the nation with honesty, dedication and integrity.
They urged people to uphold his ideals and contribute towards building a stronger, self-reliant and developed India.
BJP Secretary Taring Tiri, who served as the resource person for the programme, spoke in detail about Dr Kalam's life, achievements and invaluable contributions to national security, scientific advancement and public welfare.
Among those present were BJP vice president Tarh Soping, Kra Daadi ZPC Tagru Kasa, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Deputy Mayor Tok Tabin Camdir, IMC corporators, PRI leaders and members of various BJP frontal wings, who joined in paying homage to the former President.
