Nirjuli CC wins ‘Arunachal Sr Men’s Series Batter Cup’

ITANAGAR, Jul 28: Nirjuli Cricket Club produced a stellar all-round performance to defeat Si Donyi Cricket Foundation by 55 runs in the thrilling final of the Arunachal Senior Men’s Series Batter Cup played at AIOC ground Jullang.

Electing to bat first, Nirjuli posted a formidable total of 171 on board. Dado Tachung spearheaded the innings with a top score of 41, well-supported by crucial contributions from Akhilesh Sahani (39), Techi Neri (32), and Amarjeet Sharma (31).

For Si Donyi Cricket Club, Dol Nabam and Tsering Tashi were the standout bowlers, picking up two wickets each.

Chasing the target of 172, Si Donyi struggled to keep up with the steep required run rate and were bundled out for 116 in 20 overs. Dol Nabam fought hard with a top score of 28, while Mibom Mosu added 17, but Nirjuli's disciplined bowling attack proved too strong. Techi Neri delivered a match-winning spell, grabbing 3 wickets, while Akhilesh Sahani and Amarjeet Sharma chipped in with 2 wickets apiece to seal a decisive victory.

Organized by the Si Donyi Cricket Foundation, the tournament featured five competitive local clubs. Suraj Tayam, president of the Itanagar Cricket Club, graced the grand finale as the special guest and presented the trophies to the winners.
