ITANAGAR, Jul 31: The Regional Office of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Guwahati, in coordination with the Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd., has launched school-wise Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) camps across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) to cover students who have not yet completed the mandatory Aadhaar biometric update.
The camps have already been conducted at PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School, Arunodaya, and Indira Academy.
According to the schedule, the camps will now be held at Holy Cross School on July 31 and August 1, Nichiphu Children's Foundation School on August 3, and Vivekananda Central School on August 5.
UIDAI stated that Aadhaar biometric updates are mandatory twice during a child's lifetime—once after attaining the age of five years and again at the age of 15 years. Timely completion of these updates is essential to prevent suspension of Aadhaar and ensure uninterrupted access to services requiring Aadhaar authentication.
An Aadhaar with updated biometrics enables students to seamlessly access services such as school admissions, entrance examination registrations, scholarships, and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes, wherever applicable.
As part of its initiative to cover all children aged 5 to 17 years across Arunachal Pradesh, UIDAI, in collaboration with the Departments of Economics & Statistics and Education, has started conducting school-level MBU camps in the Itanagar Capital Region. Similar camps will be organised across all districts of the state from August 2026.
The authorities have appealed to both government and private schools across Arunachal Pradesh to extend full cooperation to UIDAI and the concerned departments to ensure the successful implementation of the biometric update drive.
