ITANAGAR, Jul 31: Currently on an official tour to his home district, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday held a meeting with elected representatives and senior district officials to discuss the way forward for the proposed Tawang Municipality.
The meeting was attended by Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu, Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, and Zilla Parishad Members Tenzin Monpa and Sonam Nordzin.
Khandu said Tawang is one of the four towns—along with Aalo, Ziro and Namsai—where the Government of Arunachal Pradesh is advancing proposals for the creation of new municipalities as part of its efforts to strengthen urban governance and improve civic infrastructure.
During the deliberations, the Chief Minister reviewed the proposed municipal framework and discussed steps required for its implementation.
