TEZU, Jul 31: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office, Tezu Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Govt of India), organized Special Outreach programme (SOP) on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tezu in Lohit district today.
Soumen Roy Chowdhury, Principal VKV Tezu, in his speech, encouraged students to remain free from drug abuse, thus building a healthy, prosperous and empowered nation.
Inspector (Tezu police station), Sukhita Namchoom interacted with the students, creating awareness among them on drug abuse.
P Baja (SI, Tezu PS) spoke about the uses of drugs and its effect, the role to be played by the parents, guardians, teachers and govt agencies to curb from malice uses of the drugs, while highlighting the significance of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Devajit Chutia, resource person from VKV Tezu, spoke on the history and objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which was launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on August 15, 2020. He highlighted the serious challenges posed by illegal drug trafficking and called for collective efforts to promote growth and prosperity of the nation.
Earlier, P Kumar (HoO, CBC, FO, Tezu) highlighted the core objective of the outreach programme and stressed the need to educate youths and encourage them to collectively work towards eradicating substance abuse.
On the occasion, literary competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Moreover, the participants also took a solemn NMBA pledge to lead a drug-free life.
