Itanagar, Aug 2: State Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has congratulated climbers January Tali and Hachu Lombo for successfully summiting Mt Kun (7,077 metres) in the Zanskar region of Ladakh.
Describing the achievement as a proud moment for the State, the Governor said the two mountaineers have created history by becoming the first women from Arunachal Pradesh to scale the challenging peak.
He noted that Mt Kun is one of India’s most demanding high-altitude mountains, with steep snow-covered slopes, treacherous glaciers, thin air and unpredictable weather, making the climb a true test of courage, endurance and resilience.
The Governor said their successful ascent reflects exceptional determination, mental strength and perseverance, bringing immense pride and laurels to Arunachal Pradesh.
Expressing confidence that their feat would inspire the younger generation, especially women, the Governor said their achievement would encourage more Arunachali youth to pursue adventure sports, maintain physical fitness and strive for excellence in every field.
