Itanagar, Aug 3: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) will implement "Mediation for the Nation 3.0 – Special Mediation Drive for Settlement of Pending Cases through Mediation" across the state from October 1 to December 31, 2026, as part of a nationwide initiative to promote amicable settlement of disputes.
According to an APSLSA communiqué, the campaign has been approved by Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chairman of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC). The initiative aims to encourage mediation as an effective, speedy and cost-efficient mechanism for resolving suitable pending cases.
APSLSA said the preparatory phase of the drive will be conducted from August 1 to September 30, 2026. During this period, suitable pending cases having an element of settlement will be identified, pre-mediation screening undertaken, notices issued to the parties, eligible cases referred for mediation, and awareness programmes will be conducted.
The special mediation drive will cover a wide range of cases, including matrimonial disputes, motor accident claim cases, debt recovery cases, execution proceedings, arbitration matters, commercial disputes, service matters, labour-related cases, and other suitable civil cases having an element of settlement.
APSLSA has appealed to litigants, advocates and members of the public to take advantage of the initiative by opting for mediation wherever appropriate. It stated that mediation is a voluntary, confidential and party-centric process that enables disputing parties to arrive at mutually acceptable settlements, thereby saving time, reducing litigation costs and preserving relationships.
People with pending cases suitable for mediation have been advised to approach the concerned District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) or the concerned court for further information and assistance regarding the "Mediation for the Nation 3.0" drive.
