Tawang, Aug 4: In a significant step towards promoting local entrepreneurship and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, a stakeholders' consultation meeting on the proposed establishment of a Flatted Factory Complex under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt of India, was held at the Tawang Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises here on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, and brought together representatives from various government departments, financial institutions and Self Help Groups (SHGs) to gather inputs for the proposed project.
Among those present were representatives of the State Bank of India, Executive Engineers Sange Phuntso (Electrical) and Phurpa Lamu (Urban Affairs), District Tourism Officer Tsering Deki, ADTH Dorjee Pema, BMMU, ArSRLM Thupten Chodup, and members of various SHGs.
Welcoming the participants, Deputy Director of Industries Tsering Drema outlined the objective of the consultation and emphasised the need for practical suggestions from stakeholders. She said the recommendations from the meeting would be compiled and forwarded to the Ministry of MSME for consideration while finalising the proposal.
Addressing the gathering, the DC encouraged participants to share their ideas and requirements to ensure the proposed facility meets the needs of local entrepreneurs and producer groups. She urged SHG members to actively contribute to the discussions, noting that their grassroots experience would be vital in designing an inclusive and functional infrastructure.
During the interactive session, SHG members, the District Tourism Officer and representatives of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) suggested incorporating common production facilities, value-addition units, marketing support, shared infrastructure and other essential services into the proposed complex. Their recommendations were recorded for submission to the Ministry of MSME.
The meeting reflected the district administration's participatory approach to development planning and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, supporting local enterprises and expanding economic opportunities in Tawang through collaborative planning. (DIPRO)
