RONO HILLS, Aug 4: Rajiv Gandhi University successfully organized the 50th meeting of the Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) here today, with RGU VC and OLIC Chairperson Prof Shivraj in the chair.
Prof Shivraj described the occasion as a historic milestone in the University’s journey towards the effective implementation of the official language. He emphasized that the promotion and implementation of Hindi is not merely an administrative responsibility but also a commitment to preserving and promoting India’s rich linguistic heritage.
He appreciated the continuous efforts of the Hindi Cell in promoting and implementing the official language, and congratulated the entire team for their dedicated work.
To commemorate the Golden Jubilee (50th meeting) of the OLIC, the Hindi Cell organized an Inter-Branch Noting and Drafting Competition. The Establishment Branch secured the first position, the Audit Branch won the second position, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat secured the third position. The winners were honoured with memento by the VC.
Hindi Officer Dr Gumpi Nguso delivered a presentation highlighting the University’s journey in implementing the official language, the achievements of the Hindi Cell and the significant contributions of the OLIC over the past decades. She also informed the members that the responsibility of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) has been entrusted to Rajiv Gandhi University.
In TOLIC above 100 central offices are registered. Under this arrangement, the Prof Shivraj has been designated as the Chairman TOLIC, while Dr Nguso appointed as its member secretary. She described this as a matter of great pride and a significant responsibility for the University, expressing confidence that the institution would continue to strengthen the implementation of the official language in the region.
RGU Registrar Dr N T Rikam, Dean of Languages Prof Oken Lego, Dean of Social Science Prof Nani Bath, HoD Hindi Prof Joram Yalam Nabam, and Jt Registrar Dr Nani Tamang Jose were also present.
