Itanagar, Aug 5: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik on Wednesday said Lok Bhavan has emerged as a vibrant hub for public dialogue, cultural exchange and good governance. He made this remark while inaugurating the new Governor Secretariat building at the Lok Bhavan complex in Itanagar.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, senior officers of the State Government and officials of the Governor’s Secretariat attended the inauguration ceremony.
Dedicating the newly constructed Secretariat building to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor said Lok Bhavan truly belongs to the people and serves as a platform for dialogue, youth engagement, cultural interaction and public outreach, bringing governance closer to citizens.
Calling upon the people to regard Lok Bhavan as a "house of the people", he said it is dedicated to the welfare and progress of every citizen of the State. He added that the institution would continue to remain open and accessible to students, entrepreneurs, artists, farmers and representatives of civil society, fostering a sense of pride, ownership and participation.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh's developmental progress, Parnaik said the State is steadily setting new benchmarks in public infrastructure. He praised the architectural excellence of the new Governor Secretariat building and cited the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly and High Court complexes as examples of landmark institutions that combine modern engineering, functionality and aesthetics. Such world-class infrastructure, he said, reflects the State's growing aspirations and commitment to transparent and efficient governance.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated the Lok Bhavan fraternity and said the institution has evolved into a vibrant platform connecting people across regions, communities and cultures.
Describing Lok Bhavan as a symbol of inclusiveness and people-centric governance, he said it has strengthened dialogue, mutual respect and a shared sense of belonging among the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
The newly inaugurated G+1 Governor's Secretariat building, constructed by the Public Works Department at a cost of Rs 10.90 crore, has a plinth area of 1,424.63 square metres. Work on the project commenced on February 24, 2024.
The building is equipped with modern amenities, including a centrally air-conditioned system, CCTV-based security surveillance and lift facilities, and is expected to enhance administrative efficiency, accessibility and public service delivery.
