Tawang, Aug 5: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tawang, on Wednesday concluded a three-day Community Mediator Training Programme aimed at strengthening grassroots access to justice and promoting peaceful resolution of disputes.
Held from August 3 to 5 at the CJM Court Complex, the programme was organised under the aegis of the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) as part of the flagship initiative, "Community Mediation: Towards a Litigation-Free Rural India."
Resource person Advocate Raknu Konya conducted sessions on mediation techniques, effective communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and amicable settlement of disputes, equipping participants with practical skills to resolve community-level conflicts.
Two nominated community mediators—Thinley Tashi, Gaon Burah of Manpat village, and Lobsang Wangchu, GB of Shyo village—successfully completed the training and received certificates during the valedictory programme.
Community Mediation, implemented under the Mediation Act, 2023, read with the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, provides a voluntary, confidential and non-adversarial mechanism for resolving disputes at the village level, helping preserve social harmony while reducing unnecessary litigation.
DLSA Tawang said the initiative marks another significant step towards NALSA's vision of creating "Litigation-Free Villages" by promoting dialogue, community participation and timely access to justice at the grassroots. (DIPRO)
