East Kameng officials trained on data collection for Dist Census Handbook

Seppa, Aug 6: A district-level training programme on the collection and compilation of Village Directory (VD) and Town Directory (TD) data for the District Census Handbook (DCHB) was conducted at the Abo Tani Conference Hall, District Secretariat here on Thursday.

The training was conducted by a master trainer from the Directorate of Census Operations, Shillong, who provided detailed guidance on the methodology, prescribed formats, data quality standards and procedures for accurate collection and compilation of VD and TD data.

The sessions stressed the importance of ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely submission of data in accordance with Census guidelines to facilitate the preparation of a reliable District Census Handbook.

The programme was attended by the Additional District Census Officer, East Kameng, Charge Census Officers, the Dealing Assistant and field functionaries representing all Census Charges. Participants actively took part in the interactive sessions and discussed various operational aspects of data collection and compilation.

The training underscored the importance of the District Census Handbook as a key statistical document for planning, governance and evidence-based policymaking.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion during which participants' queries were addressed, reinforcing the need for coordinated efforts to ensure the successful preparation of the District Census Handbook for East Kameng district.
