Chief Secy reviews development projects in Tirap

KHONSA, Aug 8: State Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta on Saturday reviewed the progress of key developmental initiatives and major infrastructure projects in Tirap district, with emphasis on timely implementation of flagship schemes, quality assurance and effective inter-departmental coordination.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Commissioner (Health & Family Welfare, PHE & Water Supply) Pawan Kumar Sain and Director, Health & Family Welfare, Marbom Basar.

Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik, Zilla Parishad Chairperson John KK Matey, Superintendent of Police Aditya, ADC (Khonsa) Namneet Singh, ADC (Deomali) Tana Bapu, administrative officers and heads of various departments attended the review meeting.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of developmental works across different sectors and directed departments to ensure timely execution, maintain quality standards and strengthen monitoring mechanisms. He stressed the need for close coordination among departments for effective implementation of government schemes and timely completion of infrastructure projects.

DC Badonlum Tawsik gave a detailed presentation on the district’s developmental status, major infrastructure projects, achievements, ongoing initiatives and administrative challenges. Issues including shortage of manpower at the Zonal General Hospital, Khonsa, and damage to roads at several locations were also highlighted.

Departmental presentations covered Health, Education, Public Works, Rural Works, Urban Development, Rural Development, Public Health Engineering & Water Supply, Water Resources, Power, APEDA, Agriculture, Horticulture, District Election Office, Fisheries, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and Disaster Management.

The District Agriculture Officer highlighted the issue of non-release of sanctioned bank loans to beneficiaries, while other departments briefed the Chief Secretary on the progress of their respective schemes and projects.

Gupta appreciated the efforts of the district administration and directed officials to maintain transparency, strengthen monitoring and ensure quality in project execution. He called for expediting implementation and resolving bottlenecks so that the benefits of government schemes and projects reach the people within the stipulated timelines.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary inspected the newly constructed first-floor extension of the existing PWD Circuit House at Khonsa. He was accompanied by senior officials, including the Commissioner, Director, DC, SP, and Executive Engineer, PWD.

Gupta appreciated the quality and aesthetic design of the newly constructed facility and commended PWD EE Taro Jeram for his efforts in executing the project.

The visit was aimed at assessing the progress of key development projects, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring their timely completion for the benefit of the people of Tirap district. (DIPRO)
