ITANAGAR, Aug 10: High Power Committee (HPC) chairman Nyato Dukam on Monday said a draft proposal on the demand to scrap the existing 80:20 job reservation ratio has been prepared and is awaiting final approval from the state Cabinet.
Dukam was speaking to reporters after a meeting of the HPC with members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and other representatives as special invitees at the Civil Secretariat here.
“We had a very fruitful discussion on the issue. The state government believes in solving matters with round-table discussions,” Dukam said.
He informed that the draft also proposes making Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificate, Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) and knowledge of a local dialect/language mandatory for candidates appearing in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Combined Competitive Examination.
The HPC chairman said the draft has been prepared in response to the demands raised by AAPSU and will now require the final approval of the state Cabinet.
The meeting comes amid AAPSU’s sustained demand for changes in the state’s recruitment policy and safeguards for employment opportunities for indigenous Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates.
