ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Welfare Society (AAPWWS) has appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh Police Housing & Welfare Corporation Ltd (APPH&WCL) to urgently issue appointment letters to all employees working under the corporation.
Addressing reporters at the Arunachal Press Club here on Monday, AAPWWS chairman Jalley Sonam said that 54 employees belonging to C and D categories were engaged under APPH&WCL in various departments in 2005, but they have allegedly not been issued appointment letters to date.
According to the AAPWWS, the 54 workers comprise 14 site engineers and 40 other staff, including drivers, gardeners, electricians and other personnel.
Sonam alleged that several of the workers are being paid only Rs 13,676 per month despite the revised minimum wages notified by the state government. He termed the alleged payment structure a violation of the prescribed guidelines and urged the Labour Department to intervene and conduct an inquiry into the matter.
The Society has also urged the competent authority of APPH&WCL to immediately issue appointment letters to all the workers, clearly mentioning their respective designations, and revise their salaries in accordance with the minimum wage guidelines of the state government.
