ITANAGAR, Aug 11: In a major step to ‘move’ the dairy sector of the State, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development (AHV&DD) Minister Gabriel D Wangsu laid the foundation stone for a Modern Cattle Shed at the Central Cattle Breeding Farm (CCBF), CLF, Nirjuli today.
Organized by the Department of AHV&DD, GoAP, the initiative aims to enhance livestock infrastructure and promote modern, scientific cattle management within the State.
The construction of the proposed infrastructure is being carried out by the Water Resources Department, Itanagar Division, in collaboration with the Dept of AHV&DD. The proposed infrastructure will house 40 high Genetic Merit cows and will have modern disposal and ventilation system in place. An automated milking machine will also be installed in the infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Wangsu underscored the significance of modern livestock infrastructure in enhancing animal health, cattle management, and overall productivity. He stressed that bolstering breeding and dairy infrastructure would greatly benefit the dairy sector and create better livelihood opportunities for livestock farmers in the State.
Earlier, Secretary AHV&DD YVVJ Rajasekhar emphasized the Department’s efforts to modernize livestock infrastructure and fortify the dairy and animal husbandry sectors. He pointed out that the new cattle shed would offer a cleaner, more hygienic and animal-friendly environment for the cattle at the CCBF.
Later, the Minister inspected the cattle shed site and took stock of the proposed infrastructure. This interaction allowed for a review of the current facilities and discussions on strategies to further enhance cattle breeding and dairy-related activities at the farm.
The CCBF at Nirjuli plays an important role in supporting cattle development and improving livestock productivity in the State. The modernization of its infrastructure is expected to strengthen scientific cattle management and contribute to the Dept’s broader vision of a productive, sustainable and self-reliant dairy sector in the State.
