ITANAGAR, Aug 11: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) on Tuesday organised an orientation programme for newly inducted guest faculty and teaching assistants on the theme “Campus Professionalism and Classroom Management.”
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor (In-Charge) Dr Milorai Modi highlighted the central role of the teaching-learning process and the contribution of teachers to social development. He urged the faculty to inspire students and adopt modern teaching-learning methods to remain effective in a changing academic environment.
Describing the university as an “Incubation Centre for Innovation and Research,” he called upon the workforce to contribute towards academic excellence.
Registrar Narmi Darang welcomed the new inductees and reviewed the university’s achievements and challenges during its first three years. He sought their cooperation in making the campus more vibrant and encouraged them to pursue academic activities for their professional growth. He also informed that 54 new departments are planned to be added over the next decade.
Prof P C Jena, Director, IQAC, and Organising Chairman, said that the programme aimed at familiarising the new faculty with the university’s academic culture, quality benchmarks and expectations of classroom professionalism. He stressed that sustained quality assurance required the commitment of every faculty member.
Controller of Examinations Dr Monshi Tayeng shared experiences from his 25-year academic journey and urged the faculty to build healthy relationships with students, senior faculty and the administration. He referred to the APU Prospectus, APU Act 2023 and APU Ordinance 2023 as key institutional documents.
Dean, Student Welfare, Dr Eli Doye, emphasised the importance of faculty being approachable and attentive to students’ concerns beyond classroom hours.
The programme was attended by HoDs, teaching faculty, newly inducted guest faculty and teaching assistants.
