MWSAP observes 135th Patriots’ Day in Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Aug 13: The Manipuri Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) observed the 135th Patriots’ Day on Thursday with a solemn floral offering and tribute ceremony at the RKM Complex here, commemorating the brave patriots and martyrs who laid down their lives during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.

The ceremony honoured the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of those who fought for the honour and dignity of Manipur. Floral tributes were offered in memory of the legendary heroes of the 1891 war, including Thangal General, Bir Tikendrajit Singh and Paona Brajabashi.

Members of the MWSAP attended the programme and paid their respects to the fallen heroes. The Society expressed gratitude to all its senior and fellow members for their presence, support and active participation. It particularly acknowledged the guidance and encouragement of senior members in preserving the legacy of the patriots and passing their ideals and sacrifices on to younger generations.

The observance reaffirmed the MWSAP’s commitment to remembering and honouring the heroes of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891 and carrying forward the values of courage, unity, sacrifice and patriotism that they represented.

The programme concluded with a renewed pledge to cherish the memory of the martyrs and keep their legacy alive.
