Itanagar, Aug 14: Arunachal Pradesh has made a “giant leap” in development and progress since 2016, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said on Friday, highlighting significant growth across key infrastructure, healthcare and economic sectors.
Sharing a comparative development snapshot, Khandu said the figures “speak for themselves” and reflect the transformation the state has witnessed over the past decade.
According to the data shared by the Chief Minister, the length of national highways in the state has increased from 1,043 km before 2016 to more than 2,538 km, while rural road connectivity has expanded from 4,131 km to 13,976 km.
The state’s installed hydropower capacity has also risen substantially, from 405 MW to 2,270 MW during the period.
In the healthcare sector, Arunachal Pradesh, which had no medical college before 2016, now has one medical college with 100 MBBS seats. Cashless health insurance coverage, which was absent earlier, has also been extended to more than two lakh families.
The number of functional household tap connections has increased sharply from 22,796 to 2,28,566, while institutional deliveries have risen from 52.5 per cent to 79.20 per cent.
The state has also recorded progress in areas such as GI-tagged products and urban infrastructure. The number of GI-tagged products has reached 20, while two cities – Itanagar and Pasighat – have been covered under the Smart City initiative.
Economically, Arunachal Pradesh’s GSDP has increased from Rs 20,373 crore before 2016 to Rs 50,651 crore, while per capita income has more than doubled from Rs 1,16,985 to Rs 2,46,813.
Khandu shared the figures as part of the state government’s “10 Saal Bemisaal” and “10 Years of Team Arunachal” campaign, showcasing the progress made in Arunachal Pradesh since 2016.
