PASIGHAT, Aug 14: As part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Spearhead Gunners, based at Sigar Military Station, Pasighat conducted a youth outreach programme at Jonai Science College in Jonai under Assam’s Dhemaji district on the I-Day eve today.
The programme, which included a motivational lecture on ‘Join Indian Army’ and attended by 120 students from Class V to Degree first-year, commenced with an art competition based on the theme of Independence Day and patriotism. This was followed by an interactive motivational lecture, aimed at creating awareness among students about the Indian Army and career opportunities in the Armed Forces.
During the lecture, students were briefed on the role and organisation of the Indian Army, life in the Army, pay and emoluments and various avenues available to join the Indian Army. The interaction also provided students an opportunity to understand life as a soldier and seek guidance on career opportunities in the Army.
The lecture was followed by a prize distribution ceremony wherein students who performed well in the art competition were felicitated for their efforts.
The programme concluded with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the national anthem involving students, faculty members and Army personnel.
The event, besides spreading awareness about career opportunities in the Indian Army, encouraged a spirit of patriotism, national pride and service to the nation. (DIPRO)
