TAWANG, Aug 14: Swift action and prompt inter-district coordination by Tawang Police led to the safe recovery of four minor boys reported missing from Eklavya Model Residential School at Bana in East Kameng district on Friday.
According to police, information regarding the missing boys was received telephonically from the Officer-in-Charge of Seppa Police Station at around 12:30 pm. The boys were believed to be heading towards Tawang district.
Acting immediately on the information, a team from Tawang Police Station comprising Lady Inspector Nii Angu, OC PS-cum-WPS Tawang, SI (SG) Tsering Rinchin and other personnel launched an extensive search across Tawang township.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Tawang Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang and DySP (HQ) Togum Gonggo.
The search operation yielded results within 35 minutes, with all four boys being located and safely intercepted near the Parade Ground area of Tawang at around 1:05 pm.
Following their recovery, the Tawang SP and DySP, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tawang, and the Seppa Police Station OC were informed. The minors were brought to Tawang Police Station for necessary formalities, interaction and monitoring by the CWC.
CWC member Sonam Dolkar and Genden Lhamu of DCPU Tawang counselled the children, with particular attention to their safety and well-being. After completion of the required procedures and counselling, all four minors were safely handed over to their parents in good health.
The successful operation highlighted the importance of swift information sharing, effective inter-district police coordination and immediate field-level response in cases involving the safety and welfare of children.
