KHONSA, Aug 16: The Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles rescued a Bolero pickup vehicle that had plunged nearly 120 metres into a deep jungle following an accident along the Changlang–Khonsa (CK) Road on Saturday.
The vehicle, reportedly carrying a full load, met with the accident and rolled down into the difficult terrain. Despite being engaged in Independence Day celebrations and related duties, Assam Rifles personnel promptly responded to the incident and launched a challenging rescue operation.
The timely intervention enabled the vehicle to be safely recovered from the deep jungle, providing much-needed assistance to the civilian owner.
The vehicle owner and members of the public present at the site expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Assam Rifles personnel for their prompt response and selfless assistance during the difficult situation.
The rescue operation highlighted the Assam Rifles’ longstanding commitment to its role as the “Friends of the Hill People” and its continued efforts to assist civilians in times of need.
The humanitarian gesture by the Khonsa Battalion, carried out even as personnel were engaged in Independence Day duties, was widely appreciated by the local community. (DIPRO)
