ITANAGAR, Aug 17: In a significant milestone, Independence Day was celebrated at Chetam (Peer-Yapu) circle headquarters in Upper Subansiri district after nearly 23 years since the administrative circle was established in 2003 under the then Gegong Apang-led Congress government.
The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at the circle headquarters with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event was organized in a befitting way under the initiative of the newly posted circle officer Deewan Mara.
Chetam ZPM Bimbo Notum Raji, who graced the occasion as chief guest, unfurled the national flag.
In his address, Raji appealed to the people of Chetam to maintain peace, communal harmony, mutual respect and unity and to work collectively for the circle's overall development. He emphasized that sustainable development can be achieved only through the active cooperation and participation of the people, public representatives and government departments.
The ZPM expressed his commitment that the Independence Day celebration at Chetam circle headquarters would henceforth be observed every year with due official protocol and public participation. He appealed to the people of the circle to extend their “fullest” support and cooperation to the administration and to participate actively in all programmes aimed at strengthening community development and public welfare.
The celebration witnessed a wide range of activities, including sports, cultural and community-oriented programs, as the event, involving Gaon Burahs/Burihs, senior citizens, youths, women, students and the general public, provided a platform for strengthening community bonding, inter-generational participation and the spirit of collective responsibility.
Another major attraction was the display of departmental and Self-Help Group stalls, showcasing various government schemes, public welfare initiatives, local products, livelihood activities and entrepreneurial opportunities available to the people.
The first formal I-Day celebration at Chetam not only commemorated India’s 80th Independence Day but also symbolized the growing institutional presence of the administration and the collective aspiration of the people of Chetam circle for peace, unity, development, self-reliance and inclusive progress.
The celebration concluded with a renewed call for “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, DONYI’S LIGHT IS OUR GUIDE” with the people resolving to work together with the administration for a peaceful, prosperous and progressive Chetam circle.
