Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ concludes

ITANAGAR, Aug 17: As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 commemorating the 150th Anniversary of national song Vande Mataram that culminated today, the nine-day movement which aimed to strengthen the spirit of national unity, patriotism and civic participation also concluded in the State on Monday.

LIKABALI: The nine-day Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram concluded today with a resounding Tiranga Yatra (public procession) through Likabali township.

The event was organized by the Lower Siang District Administration in collaboration with the District Art & Culture Office, IPR Department and the Likabali Market Welfare Committee. Government officials, schoolchildren, shopkeepers and members of the general public participated enthusiastically in the Yatra. Hundreds of people thronged the streets of Likabali, carrying the tricolour and banners and raising patriotic slogans such as “Har Ghar Tiranga” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

The Tiranga Yatra culminated at Likabali Market Square and was flagged off by senior public leader Gumke Riba and Mito Taipodia, general secretary LMWC, amidst a mass rendition of Vande Mataram.

Addressing the gathering, Riba greeted the citizens and paid his respects to the tricolour. He highlighted the significance of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign in fostering a sense of ownership and pride in the national flag among every citizen. He said that the tricolour is a cherished symbol belonging to every Indian and urged everyone to uphold its sanctity, dignity and honour at all times.

Earlier, DACO-cum-District Nodal Officer Augusti Jamoh briefed the gathering on various activities undertaken as part of the HGT Campaign and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.

The event ended with the mass rendition of the national anthem.

KHONSA: The nine-day Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan 2026 concluded successfully in Tirap district today, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, officials, and the general public across the district.

The campaign, which commenced on 9th August, featured a series of engaging and patriotic activities, including a Tiranga Bullet Rally on the inaugural day, quiz competitions, group and solo singing competitions on national song Vande Mataram, social service activities, observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, and the celebration of the 80th Independence Day.

The programme was organized by the District Administration, Tirap in collaboration with the Departments of Art & Culture and Information and Public Relations, Tirap.

The concluding programme was attended by DC Badonlum Tawsik ;DACO I/c Bomyir Dirchi, DIPRO, DPO, DAO and DVO among others.

The final day featured a singing competition among school students, with the winners adjudged in several categories.

Group Song – Vande Mataram: R K Sarada Mission Girls’ School, Khonsa won the first prize, followed by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khonsa (2nd) and Govt Pinewood Secondary School, Khonsa (3rd).

In Solo Song, 1st prize was won by Swaraj Deka, Class IX, Assam Rifles Public School, Khonsa, while the 2nd prize went to Longa Pansa, Class VIII, GPSS, Khonsa and the 3rd prize to Wangjet Khusia, Class XII, KV, Khonsa.

The panel of judges comprised Assistant Commissioner N L Naam, Tax and Exercise Superintendent Monica Lowang, and DDMO Emily Tingkhatra.

Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the importance of the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan and Vande Mataram, describing them as enduring symbols of national pride and unity. He urged the students and the gathering to become responsible and conscientious citizens and encouraged them to understand the meaning and spirit of the words Vande Mataram, and to sing the national song with genuine feeling and devotion towards the nation.

The successful conclusion of the nine-day campaign reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity, and active public participation across Tirap district. (DIPROs)
