Horticultural inputs distributed to farmers under VVP

TAWANG, Aug 20: Horticultural inputs for hybrid vegetable cultivation under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), as part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), were distributed among farmers at Kyidphel circle in Tawang district on Thursday.

A total of 25 farmers from Kyidphel block benefited from the programme. The beneficiaries received summer and winter vegetable seed kits, organic manure, organic plant protection chemicals, power knapsack sprayers and various agricultural tools and implements.

The inputs are aimed at improving vegetable cultivation, enhancing productivity and promoting sustainable farming practices among farmers in the area.

Addressing the gathering, District Horticulture Officer Koncho Gyatso highlighted the importance and long-term benefits of organic farming. He encouraged farmers to adopt sustainable cultivation practices to maintain soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical inputs and ensure the production of safe and healthy food.

Assistant Commissioner (Kyidphel) Sange Norbu urged the beneficiary farmers to make optimum and responsible use of the inputs provided under the scheme. He also stressed the adoption of improved horticultural practices to enhance productivity and strengthen the livelihoods of farming communities.

Local ZPM Tenzin Monpa called upon farmers to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilisers and shift towards organic and environmentally sustainable farming practices. He said organic cultivation would help safeguard the health of farmers and consumers while preserving soil fertility and the natural environment for future generations. (DIPRO)
